WHO'S WHO at the Guayaquil Temple Reunion

INVITATION REQUEST LIST (See who is going. Password required.)

There has been a lot of discussion over the past several years about making a "mass exodus" to Ecuador when the Guayaquil Temple is completed, either for the open house or dedication, or both.

The purpose if this page and the mailing list is to facilitate better communication and documentation of travel ideas, flight fares, etc.  If you are interested in the trip, please visit this site often, as I post any information that I receive almost immediately.

7/19/99 108,000 Attend Open House!
From Hna.

    Double: $50 + 20%

3/29/99 Special Fast in Ecuador for Temple
The members in Ecuador will be holding a special fast on the first Sunday in April for the construction and dedication of the temple.
I am sure that, if you feel inclined to join them, your support would be felt and appreciated.
3/25/99 Temple Dedication Reportedly Postponed
Due to strikes and other problems in Guayaquil and throughout Ecuador, the dedication of the temple has reportedly been delayed for approximately six weeks. We are awaiting confirmation by the First Presidency. (The members in Ecuador will be notified as soon as an official announcement is made.)
I will notify everyone via the mailing list as soon as an official announcement regarding the postponement and new dates is made.
3/19/99 Official Instructions to Request Dedication Invitation(s)
Hno. Flores and I have been discussing the proper way to get invitations to the dedication. After consulting with Bro. Tom Coburn at the Temple Department, it has been decided that we can simply submit a list to Hno. Flores of those who would like to attend the dedication, along with the session you would like to attend.
A letter from your bishop is not necessary; however, you must present a current temple recommend at the temple to pick up your invitations.
With this in mind, please make sure you send me the following information for each person in your party:
  • Name
  • Street address
  • Ward and Stake
  • The session you would like to attend (see the schedule below)
Note that you can send the information directly to Hno. Flores if you wish, but he will just forward it to me so that I can add it to the list that I am compiling to send to him.
These instructions have been approved by Hno. Winston Flores, Executive Secretary of the Guayaquil Temple Committee; Elder Francisco Viñas, President of the South America North Area; and Tom Coburn, of the Church Temple Department.
3/17/99 Dedication Announcement and Instructions
Click here to see the actual printed announcement that was distributed to members in Ecuador. It includes the schedule (reproduced below), instructions on what to take to the dedication, and how to behave, and a lot of other great information.
Here's what Hno. Flores says about getting invitations to the dedication:
